The Val Grande Hostel, owned by the National Park, is nestled in the center of the small village of Cicogna. We are in the capital of the Park, 15 kilometers from Verbania and Lake Maggiore. It is a special place, an ideal starting point to discover the countless riches of the uncontaminated and wild nature of the Val Grande. With us you can spend your time in complete freedom like at home, thanks to the equipped kitchen, the dining room, the living room, the balconies in all the rooms, the washing machine, the outdoor dehor overlooking the mountains. The structure is at the forefront from an environmental point of view: hot water and electricity are produced thanks to solar panels. The mobile signal does not arrive … and trust us this helps to “unplug” the plug from too much technology that surrounds us.
We have been resisting for exactly one year, always keeping the hostel open, guaranteeing environmental protection and support for many people who have visited Cicogna. We have not received a single euro of refreshment from any public institution. Having long since exhausted all our reserves, now we just have to ask for help from the many friends who love us.
If you want to find the hostel still open, we need to quickly collect a sum that at least compensates for the non-collection of Easter 2021. We have a lot of ready-made ideas, which would also give work to other people in crisis like us, but not alone. we do it more. We ask those who can, to give us a hand, each for what they can. We are committed to fighting in every place so that those who risk every day to stand up are not suffocated by general indifference.
Now, thanks to the many people who have helped us, we can keep the hostel open until June 1st. What happens next depends on the government and the EU. We will fight hard to get hundreds of thousands of small businesses like us back to work. By the end of April, we will communicate how each of the € 5,500 you have given us so far will be spent; and of course we will share some of this figure with some who are worse off than us, as we said earlier.
Thank you very much if you continue to give us a hand, even by circulating our request, in any way you deem appropriate.
